Green Leaf Threshing
After purchasing the tobacco from farmers, the tobacco is sent to the GLT in Morogoro for processing. Lamina and midrib of a leaf are separated and dried to safe storage moisture content in a tobacco threshing factory. Blending, tipping, conditioning, classification and re-drying are the important unit operations in tobacco threshing. The quality specifications during threshing operations are stringent and difficult to adhere. Packed tobacco products are stored in a warehouse for 6 to 12 months. Bug count is taken in the warehouses (by pheromone traps) almost every day and fumigated with phosphine whenever it exceeds a threshold value.
Tobacco Leaf and Strips
Our customers can choose between a wide range of Tanzanian FLUE-CURED VIRGINIA, BURLEY, DARK AIR-CURED and DARK FIR-CURED processed to meet unique customer specifications. Our strips/lamina blends range from all plant positions, all colour ranges, quality and, styles. Our grades are supplied at competitive prices.
Famous Rock Private Limited can supply lamina from Tanzania any time of the year but it is imperative that orders are put in place well ahead of the buying season which starts end of April of every year. This is mainly for customised blends.
If the client wants to purchase in-house blends they can do so by choosing grades available in the inventory and can be supplied immediately once the ordering process is completed.
All tobaccos from high to medium and standard quality are packed in C48 cartons with kraft paper top and bottom and net mass of 200kg.
Tobacco Fines
Our tobacco fines come in different colours and sizes, all depending on customer preferences namely:
- F4 fines – fines through ¼ and held over 1/8 screens which will be either bright or dark
- F8 fines – through 1/8 and held over 1/16 screens which will be either bright or dark
- F16 fines – through 1/16 and held over 1/32 which will be either bright or dark
Tobacco Stems
Tobacco stems are by-products of green leaf threshing were the midrib of a leaf is separated from the lamina. Stems are packed into C48 cartons with kraft paper top and bottom and net mass of 200kg.
Our stems are supplied in the below distinct classes
- Long Stems – these are stems produced mainly from upper stalk positions and are generally thick.
- Mixed Stems – these are stems of various sizes from shorts, medium and long which are packed together.
- Short Stems – these are stems which are short in size with average length of one inch to one and half inch length. Most of these are from the lower stalk position.
Cigar Tobacco
Famous Rock Private Limited has recently launched growing of Cigar Tobacco in the Western region on Tanzania close to Lake Tanganyika. We have different varieties from different cigar tobacco growing countries which are on trial.
If you want to put an order, send specifications so that we can match that by providing samples which you can evaluate. You can request for adjustment of the blend or agree on the sample.
This process is done together with pricing hence when you agree, a contract is prepared which will have all terms of trading from price, payment terms, product specifications, processing and shipping schedule.
